Good food will get you on the BnB map

South Africans love to eat. We are passionate about our food and either rave or complain bitterly about the quality and quantity of nourishment that was dished up at a wedding, family gathering, conference, function, restaurant, and even BnB. In fact, the probability of South Africans raving about the meals instead of the rooms at your BnB is extremely high.

If you dish up good food at your place there is no doubt that they will be seriously impressed and quite likely speak about your establishment to their family and friends. The opposite is also true: They will rant for days on end to anybody and everybody willing to listen about their horrible experience in the breakfast room.

To make sure your BnB guests and visitors come back and refer your establishment to colleagues, friends and family members, seriously consider a menu change if yours is not up to scratch.

Here are a few menu ideas to serve up mouth-watering, delectable, worth-talking-about breakfasts:

  1. Eggless pancakes are quick and easy to make and only have a few ingredients. When you top them up with strawberries and syrup they look like art works. Remember, people eat with their eyes too. Make sure your food is presentable and pretty, and you have a winner.
  2. It will take you about 15 minutes to add flair to the traditional French toast with crunchy bacon, rocket and tomato. And voila, you have a new item on the menu! Keep in mind that not everybody eats bacon. Make sure to give them the option to add macon instead or go vegetarian.
  3. Oatmeal is always popular. But it does not have to be bland and dull looking. Consider adding toasted coconuts and diced fresh mango to give it a tropical feel. Greek yogurt and orange marmalade (or any jam) will turn it into a creamy, sweet affair. Garnish oats with dried cranberries, berries and pistachio nuts. To beef up your oatmeal, add banana and blackstrap molasses.

Your BnB will be the talk of the town whether you serve good or bad food. You choose!
